Tamoxifen is used to treat some types of breast cancer in men and women. It is also used to lower a woman’s chance of developing breast cancer if she has a high risk (such as a family history of breast cancer).When tamoxifen is used in combination with cytotoxic agents, there is increased risk of thromboembolic events occurring. Lactation: It is not known if tamoxifen is excreted in human milk and, therefore, the drug is not recommended during lactation.Tamoxifen comes as a pill to be taken once or twice daily with water and each day at a similar time. When taken, the tablets should be whole; they should not be split, chewed, or crushed.
